We have been arguing with each other about reproductive rights for far too long. It is a leading example of the divisiveness we face and the anger that people feel towards politics. I think voters here in the 10th district are especially sick of it. It's why my campaign slogan is, "Let's Get Things Done," to finally end the shouting and focus on finding a way out of this endless argument.
When it comes to protecting reproductive rights, Democrats have been relying on a series of very uncertain events. We hope that we will win the presidency, and also win a majority in the Senate, and then hope there will be vacancies to replace pro-life justices with pro-choice justices, and then after all that we'll finally have enough votes to protect Roe v. Wade for good. That plan did not work out very well, after three Trump appointments.
Many other democracies have enacted legislative solutions to address the issues of abortion, problematic pregnancies, and other reproductive issues. The election results prove that Americans want to protect these rights. I will work to find a fair consensus solution that allows for women to make their own decisions and ensures protection for maternal health at all stages of pregnancy. Once we pass a bill like that, it will be far more reliable than hoping a judge doesn't rule the wrong way in a future case and make us start all over again. in the meantime, I will fight any encroachment on the right of women to control their own health.
